February 2024 Newsletter

On Wednesday, March 20, from 1-4, we will be at Trinity Lutheran Church on St. Pauls Avenue hosting a modified International Potluck Luncheon for seniors.
We fulfilled 7 Teachers’ Closet wish lists this month with the grant we received from Sandy Hook Pilots Charitable Foundation. Each teacher was able to choose their most needed classroom items.

Our Value A Veteran initiative will now encompass our newest addition of a Military Food Pantry. We are working with Rolling Thunder to identify disabled and homebound Veterans in need and will be having our first grocery distribution in March.

We received a donation from Dorothy Gordon and a couple of her co-workers at Primark. They were able to put together a sizable amount of childrens clothing and underwear for us to distribute in the coming months.
We had two winners splitting the pot of $520. Each of their selected charities will receive $260.
Jennifer Weile selected Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center In Honor of Rocco DiMaggio. Maryann Gietzen chose Feeding America.

Our first fundraiser of 2024 was a successful Super Bowl Pool.

We get inquiries for teens looking to score service hours to satisfy school requirements. We have been recommending the students organize a collection of food (cereal, granola bars, fruit cups) to be used for our Food Insecurity initiatives.

Students can create flyers, host the collection and deliver to the recipients for their service credit.
Please contact us for a list of items needed.
