Weekly Update. May 23, 2025

Tuesday night we were at SIUH Community Park for the FerryHawks first Hunger Free Tuesday game. Fans were asked to bring a box of cereal for our Veterans Food Pantry and they were given a ticket to the game. We collected more than 160 items to fill our shelves. Thanks to Flynn Ferguson, the FerryHawks and of course, the fans who donated.

On Wednesday, the Staten Island Giving hosted a comedy performance that included Jose Diaz and a couple of his professional comedian colleagues to present a performance fo 60 seniors at Oakwood Heights Community Church.
Everyone was attentive and engaged. Desserts were supplied by Damaris and gift bags packaged by Mona Ghanem were distributed to the audience as they left for home.    Jose announced that he can now include a Motown video show as one of his presentations.   We were grateful to the audience and volunteers for venturing out on such a nasty weather day. Jose and his colleagues truly enjoyed the day and made several connections after the program.

This was the last of three events this month dedicated to brightening the days of seniors in our community.

We will be collecting swimsuits, beach towels and flip flops until the end of June.
