Perfect Opportunity
We have a very special Tuesday Boost for you this week (also watch Thursday for an additional boost). Today we wanted you to all take a look at:
https://alumniconnect.wagner.edu/chai-society-community-mitzvah-virtual-awards-2021
As you know, there have been few “galas”, Honoree dinners, chances to highlight our vast array of community servants during this past year. BUT almost everybody has been able to flex to ZOOM gatherings in one form or another.
Wagner College’s Chai Society has taken the Zoom leap to put together a virtual community Mitzvah Awards presentation as you can see when you click on to the link above. And what you will see is a wonderful slate of honorees, many whom you will recognize from all our community work. But without taking the glory from any of the Honorees, you as Staten Island Giving Circle members WILL be so pleased to see Joel Cohen front and center. We have known Joel (and Nancy) since the Giving Circle’s inception in 2008 and Evelyn met him even earlier while we were both working with Staten Island Mental Health in their Volunteer Reading Program. And many of you, I’m sure, have known him for even longer.
I know it’s probably not necessary to extol Joel’s virtues outwardly, but I’m going to. He is absolutely one of the most loving and loveable individuals you’d ever have the privilege of knowing. He is funny, intelligent, articulate, concerned and giving….thus, his Humanitarian Award.
The Giving Circle will be donating on the site above, as will a number of us individually. And what better charity to honor than one of the ones at Wagner College enhancing and promoting Jewish life, history and missions. Join us in honoring Joel in this way.
